Prayers for Jade

On April 20, 2007, my family welcomed Baby Jade into our lives. We quickly learned that God had plans we were not expecting for Jade. Jade was initially diagnosed with Congenital Hypotonia of the Newborn. She was unable to breastfeed without fatiguing and was quickly losing weight. Jade was readmitted into the hospital when she was 4 1/2 days old and now has a nasogastric tube which feeds her. Jade can breastfeed a few times a day, but no more. In May we learned from an MRI that Jade may have some abnormalities of the white matter of her brain. It appears that she has the white matter of a premature infant, while she is a full term baby. The Pediatric Neuros don't know what to think of it, so we will wait and repeat the MRI at 4 months. Jade is progressing almost on time with her developmental milestones, and so this may be a finding that is not important to her diagnosis. She just spent 4 more days at The Children's Hospital, and many tests have been run. Many of the diseases they are looking at are not pretty. They are extremely rare metabolic disorders, and most are fatal by age 2. We have faith in the Lord that none of these tests will hold Jade's diagnosis. Jade will return to The Children's Hospital this week for surgery to place a G-tube since she is not progressing with her feeds.
Jade needs your prayers. We need a miracle, and we know that God can make these very nasty tests be negative. We know that with His blessings, she can have completely normal results and go on to become a happy, healthy little girl. Please Pray for Jade. Our family thanks you. God bless your family.
